Why you should be concerned about the “Proposed Brownsburg North Annexation”
If this annexation occurs:
- Brownsburg School will suffer an annual loss of $400,000+ in revenue. If annexation were to occur, this revenue would be redirected from our schools to the town. This revenue is currently in the Brownsburg Community School Corporation’s budget that would have to be cut and would adversely impact our children. (see additional info)
- Brownsburg Fire territory will experience an annual revenue loss of $80,000+ Results: possibly, less fire protection or decreased quality protection
- Brownsburg Police Department will face an annual revenue loss of $50,000+; but will have almost double the area to patrol.
- The town will have almost double the area that will require snowplowing and road services. The town simply does not have the equipment needed to handle and maintain this increase in size.
- Property owners will incur increases in sewer and water rates due to the infrastructure cost that will be associated with the annexation.
- Property owners will suffer an increase in property tax’s
- Other Indiana towns (i.e.: Noblesville and Zionsville) have recently voted in special school taxation (referendums). We expect this to happen in Brownsburg as a result of the annexation, - a special tax to compensate for the town council raiding school coffers to pay for their initiatives that we don’t want!
School Superintendent Dr. Jim Snapp has verified the following information:
Due to our litigation efforts, we have already prevented the loss of $400,000 in annual revenue that would be redirected away from our schools to the town. This revenue is currently in the Brownsburg Community School Corporation’s budget that would have to be cut and would adversely impact our children. This prevented loss of annual school revenue will continue every year that we successfully prevent the Proposed North Annexation.
Due to our litigation efforts, we have also prevented revenue loss to the Brownsburg Fire Territory $80,000+, Brownsburg Police Departments$50,000+ and the Brownsburg Library.
